Aims & Scope

Current Views in Dentistry

Current Views in Dentistry is an independent, not-for-profit, open-access journal that aims to promote the timely circulation of thoughtful, evidence-informed, and forward-looking ideas across the full spectrum of dentistry and oral health sciences. The journal was founded to provide a scholarly space for ideas that are scientifically meaningful, intellectually responsible, and potentially transformative, even when they do not always fit neatly within the conventional formats of established academic journals.

The primary aim of Current Views in Dentistry is to encourage rigorous yet flexible scholarly communication. Modern dentistry is evolving rapidly through advances in biomedical science, digital technology, artificial intelligence, biomaterials, clinical practice, education, public health, and health policy. In such a changing environment, scientific progress requires not only completed experimental studies and comprehensive reviews, but also conceptual exploration, critical reflection, technical innovation, and constructive discussion of emerging issues. The journal therefore seeks to support manuscripts that help readers understand new concepts, reinterpret established knowledge, identify gaps in evidence, propose future research directions, and critically examine ongoing changes in dentistry and related fields.

Scope

Current Views in Dentistry welcomes contributions from all areas of dentistry, oral health sciences, and related biomedical disciplines, including but not limited to:

  • clinical dentistry and oral healthcare
  • basic, translational, and applied dental research
  • oral biology, craniofacial science, and dental materials
  • digital dentistry, artificial intelligence, robotics, and emerging technologies
  • dental education, assessment, curriculum development, and professional training
  • public oral health, health systems, ethics, policy, and social dimensions of dentistry
  • interdisciplinary research connecting dentistry with medicine, engineering, data science, aging science, behavioral science, and other relevant fields

The journal particularly values manuscripts that offer clear intellectual contribution rather than merely conforming to a fixed publication template. Suitable submissions may include Original Research, Review Articles (including Scoping Reviews), Opinions, Letters to the Editor, and Technical Breakthroughs. Policy-oriented discussions, educational reflections, conceptual analyses, and critical viewpoints may also be considered when they are grounded in evidence, coherent reasoning, and scholarly integrity.

Scientific Standards

At the same time, Current Views in Dentistry does not regard flexibility as a departure from scientific standards. The journal is committed to evidence-based reasoning, methodological transparency, responsible interpretation, and ethical scholarly communication. It welcomes imagination, but not unsupported speculation; it encourages new perspectives, but not unsubstantiated claims. Every manuscript accepted for publication should demonstrate clarity of purpose, appropriate engagement with existing knowledge, and respect for the principles of sound scientific inquiry.

Open Access Commitment

As an open-access journal, Current Views in Dentistry is also committed to broad accessibility. The journal believes that scientific knowledge should be shared as openly as possible and that the cost of publication should not become an unnecessary barrier for researchers. As an independent, not-for-profit publication, the journal will strive to minimize or avoid article processing charges whenever feasible, while sustaining publication through responsible support, donations, and ethical sources of funding.

Mission

Through this mission, Current Views in Dentistry seeks to become a platform for rigorous ideas, responsible imagination, and constructive dialogue across dentistry and oral health sciences. The journal aspires to connect established knowledge with emerging perspectives, scientific excellence with openness, and innovation with professional responsibility.
