Open Access & Copyright Policy

Current Views in Dentistry

1. Open Access Policy

Current Views in Dentistry is an independent, not-for-profit, open-access journal. All articles published in the journal are made freely and permanently available online immediately upon publication.

Readers may access, read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full text of published articles without subscription fees or access charges, provided that the original work is properly cited and used in accordance with the applicable copyright and license terms.

The journal believes that scholarly knowledge should be shared as openly as possible and that access to scientific ideas should not be restricted by financial, institutional, or geographic barriers.

2. Copyright

Authors retain the copyright to their published work.

By submitting a manuscript to Current Views in Dentistry, authors grant the journal the right to publish the article, identify itself as the original publisher, and make the article available through the journal website and other scholarly platforms, databases, repositories, indexing services, and preservation systems.

The journal does not require authors to transfer copyright. Authors remain responsible for the accuracy, originality, ethical compliance, and appropriate attribution of all content included in their work.

3. Licensing

Unless otherwise stated, articles published in Current Views in Dentistry are distributed under an open-access license that permits use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided that the original work is properly cited.

The journal generally supports the use of the Creative Commons Attribution License, such as CC BY, because it promotes broad dissemination, reuse, and scholarly visibility while preserving proper attribution to the authors and the journal.

The specific license applied to each article will be clearly indicated on the published article page and in the article PDF.

4. Author Rights

Authors may use, share, and distribute their published articles for scholarly, educational, professional, and institutional purposes.

Authors may:

  • post the published article on personal, institutional, or laboratory websites;
  • deposit the article in institutional or subject repositories;
  • share the article with students, colleagues, and professional communities;
  • use the article in teaching, lectures, academic presentations, and educational materials;
  • include the article in academic portfolios, grant reports, theses, or institutional evaluations;
  • distribute the article through scholarly networks, provided that the original publication in Current Views in Dentistry is properly cited.

5. Third-Party Materials

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce or adapt copyrighted materials owned by third parties, including figures, tables, images, questionnaires, extensive text excerpts, clinical photographs, or other protected content.

If third-party material is not covered by the article’s open-access license, this must be clearly indicated in the manuscript. The presence of an open-access license on the article does not automatically override copyright restrictions on third-party materials.

6. Article Processing Charges

Current Views in Dentistry is committed to reducing financial barriers for authors as well as readers.

The journal will not charge any Article Processing Charges for at least the first three years from its launch. During this period, authors will not be required to pay submission fees, review fees, publication fees, or article processing charges for accepted manuscripts.

If the journal finds it necessary to introduce, revise, or request any publication-related charges in the future, such changes will be announced clearly on the journal website in advance. Any future charges, if introduced, will be kept as low as possible and will be used only to support essential journal operations, publication infrastructure, digital preservation, and editorial production.

No fee, waiver, donation, sponsorship, or financial contribution will influence editorial assessment, peer review, acceptance, rejection, correction, or retraction.

7. Not-for-Profit Publishing Principle

Current Views in Dentistry operates as a not-for-profit scholarly journal. The journal’s open-access model is intended to serve the academic, clinical, educational, and public health communities rather than commercial interests.

The journal seeks to sustain publication through responsible sources of support, including donations, institutional support, voluntary academic contribution, and other ethical funding mechanisms. Financial sustainability will be pursued in a manner that preserves editorial independence, publication ethics, and scholarly integrity.

8. No Paywall Policy

Published articles will not be placed behind a subscription paywall. The journal will not restrict access to published scholarly content on the basis of institutional subscription, personal membership, payment status, geographic location, or commercial access model.

The journal may use standard website management, indexing, archiving, and metadata services to support discoverability and preservation, but such mechanisms will not be used to limit access to published articles.

9. Repository and Archiving Rights

Authors are encouraged to deposit the final published version of their articles in appropriate repositories, including institutional repositories, disciplinary repositories, funder-designated repositories, and personal academic websites.

The journal will also seek appropriate mechanisms for long-term preservation and accessibility of published content. As the journal develops, it will make reasonable efforts to support stable digital access, persistent identifiers, metadata registration, indexing, and digital archiving.

10. Proper Citation and Attribution

Any reuse, distribution, or reproduction of published articles must include proper citation of the original work.

A standard citation should include the author names, article title, journal title, year of publication, volume and issue number where applicable, page range or article number where applicable, DOI or URL where available, and license information when required.

11. Commercial Use and Misuse

Open access does not permit misuse of published content. Published articles must not be used in a misleading, deceptive, defamatory, unethical, or scientifically inappropriate manner.

Users must not alter, manipulate, selectively quote, or present published content in a way that misrepresents the authors’ findings, arguments, conclusions, or the position of Current Views in Dentistry.

Where the applicable license permits commercial reuse, such reuse must still comply with proper attribution, research integrity, copyright law, and ethical standards. Where specific materials are excluded from the open license, users must obtain separate permission from the rights holder.

12. Changes to This Policy

This Open Access and Copyright Policy may be updated as the journal develops and as standards of scholarly publishing evolve.

Any changes to copyright, licensing, author rights, article processing charges, or access conditions will be announced clearly on the journal website. Changes will not be applied retroactively in a way that restricts access to already published open-access articles.
